'Palestinians' seek to renegotiate Oslo

The 'Palestinians' are seeking to 'renegotiate' the economic portions of the Oslo Accords.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Saturday that the Palestinian Authority wants to open the 1994 Paris Protocols – the financial addendum to the Oslo Accords – for review.

Speaking to journalists on his plane back from the UN General Assembly in New York, Abbas said that parallel to the PA's fight to see its UN statehood bid mature, it will also seek to redefine its financial arrangements vis-à-vis Israel.

"The (current) arrangement is unfair and has articles which are keeping the Palestinian economy from stabilizing," he said, adding that the agreement "prevents land development… We aim to become independent of external (financial) assistance."
But what if Israel is happy with the agreements as they are and feels they are being implemented properly?
[Fatah Central Committee member Dr. Mohammad] stressed that the decision had nothing to do with Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman's threat to revoke the Oslo Accords: "I don't think that the demand to review the Paris Protocols will make the situation between the parties worse. It is natural for financial agreements to be reviewed and updated every once and a while… We haven't discussed the matter with Israel because there are no talks. These agreements are just not being implemented in full."
So we have to agree to give them the 1967 lines before they will agree to 'renegotiate' these agreements? Hmmm.

The Palestinians have abrogated Oslo. For them to demand Israel reopen other agreements is chutzpah. Where is the quid pro quo for Israel? Israel has a lot of leverage that can be brought to bear on the Palestinians. But for various reasons, it won't use it to affect a meaningful change in their behavior.

What could go wrong indeed

The thing in all these agreements "preventing" PA development ($$) in the manner the leaders desire is the STEP ONE requirement to stop attacks, incitement, etc. against Israel before anything else happens. Given how the Arabs treat each other, the genius of the STEP ONE is that they are required to issue to Israel a waiver from the normal way of doing things. And they would actually have to act against (police work, etc.) their normal way of operating if it is directed at Israelis. Israel, DO NOT LET THEM OFF THE HOOK. Keep these requirements in force. I always talk about Churchill's River War about Sudan in 1898, which outlines the slicing and dicing that is standard in the region (no Jews were there, no Israeli state govt existed then). Even the book Obama bought for his vacation reading, Cutting for Stone, by Abraham Borghese, describes a normalness and neglect for damaging rape on demand, etc. The Lefties think in glowing terms of the Humanity of this, although by not calling for it to end everywhere, they have to set up martial systems that protect the favored ones and put outside the walls the little people.

Don't let them off the hook.

NormanF - There will be no quid pro quo. They do not negotiate or compromise. Israel needs to keep what is already signed... that incitement, attacks, etc. will end. They haven't done it, but it is still on the books and in the legal realm, makes it harder for the Arabs' agent Clinton The Liar (and Clinton 2?) to force badness on Israel and on us all.
