Obama wants to impose 'peace'

The token has finally dropped at Haaretz. Ari Shavit has figured out what allowing the core issues to be raised at 'proximity talks' means.
U.S. President Barack Obama's demands during his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last Tuesday point to an intention to impose a permanent settlement on Israel and the Palestinians in less than two years, political sources in Jerusalem say.

Israeli officials view the demands that Obama made at the White House as the tip of the iceberg under which lies a dramatic change in U.S. policy toward Israel.

Of 10 demands posed by Obama, four deal with Jerusalem: opening a Palestinian commercial interests office in East Jerusalem, an end to the razing of structures in Palestinian neighborhoods in the capital, stopping construction in Jewish neighborhoods in East Jerusalem, and not building the neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo.

But another key demand - to discuss the dispute's core issues during the indirect talks that are planned - is perceived in Jerusalem as problematic because it implies that direct negotiations would be bypassed. This would set up a framework through which the Americans would be able to impose a final settlement.
It gets worse too. Obama is trying to isolate Israel completely, urging other allies to put pressure on us.

America's word - as expressed by Bush and Clinton - is worthless. The United States is just like any other banana republic in which a new government taking power means all previous commitments are thrown off. We will never trust the United States again.

Read the whole thing.

Not so fast, Carl! Independent voters in the U.S. feel betrayed by the Obama administration as well. Running as a center left guy, O is hard left. Skeptics saw it from the beginning. He is likely a Marxist and a closet Muslim. Many in the U.S. are distraught by his behavior toward Israel. Don't give up on the country as a whole. We trust the right will win elections this year and the presidency in 2012. Obama will probably not run because 1) he will have alienated most of the country, lost congress, etc., and 2) he won't be able to pass the birth test which one or more states will legislate.

Carl - agreed. The US broke two major promises to Israel, unilaterally. It wants Israel to give more, without the Jewish State getting anything in return. That sounds to me to be a fool's bargain.

Which is all the justification Israel's government needs to reject the American demands.

I never supported Obama. I always questioned him from the very beginning but he deceived the American people who were willing to deceived. We aren't even being told over here by the news or anyone what Obama is saying to Israel. This is even the 1st I've heard of the demands. They are keeping it completely hush hush and the American people don't know what is going on anymore.

Arizona just passed the "birther" law today I read.

You don't need Americas support, Israel has God. God will fully protect Israel now. You see how the nations that you have done good to are experiencing evil, the Arab nations. That is because the bible says when someone does you good and you turn around and repay them with evil, it says evil will never leave your house. Evil will never leave the house of the Arab countries now. It's not man that helps Israel, it is God and He is still the same God that delivered you in Egypt.
