Disgusting: IDF tricks elite soldiers into helping expel Jews on the Sabbath

This is a disgusting story, but it's not the first time it's happened. This past Friday night, the IDF told elite Givati brigade soldiers that they were needed in Hebron to secure the perimeter of an area in which SWAT police were attempting to arrest or liquidate a terrorist. Most of the soldiers were religious and under IDF rules cannot be asked to participate in non-essential activities on the Sabbath. Arresting and liquidating terrorists are considered essential activities. Expelling Jews from their homes is not an essential activity in which the IDF is allowed to force religious soldiers to participate at 3:00 AM on a Friday night. It turns out that the 'mission' the soldiers were protecting was the destruction of two homes of Jewish families in the Hebron area. One of the families was that of well-known 'activist' Noam Federman, who has been arrested dozens of times for anti-government activities but almost never convicted of breaking the law.

Let's go to the videotape.

The people who were responsible for this scandal are the dying gasps of the Olmert-Barak-Livni government, and particularly defense minister Ehud Barak who had to have approved the orders. I hope the religious parties will remember what nefarious characters Livni and Barak are and refuse to enter into a government with them after the upcoming elections. But as a much wiser man than I am once said, "and money will answer everything." (That's a quote from King Solomon in the book of Ecclesiastes).
