Botched attempt to poison Nasrallah?

The Iraqi Web site Almalaf on Wednesday quoted diplomatic sources in Beirut saying there was a botched attempt to poision Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah was poisoned last week and that his life was saved by Iranian doctors who were rushed to Lebanon to treat him late Sunday night.

Hizbullah officials have so far denied the report. Since the Second Lebanon War, fearing for his life Nasrallah spends most of his days in the bunker, surfacing rarely to greet his supporters.

Earlier in the year Infolive.tv interviewed former Mossad operative Mishka Ben David who discussed the botched attempt by the Mossad in 1997 to assasinate Hamas leader Khaled Masha'al.

Let's go to the videotape and then I'll have a comment.

Do I believe this could have happened? You bet. Do I believe that Israel and the Mossad could have been behind it? You bet. Could this be connected with Nasrallah's decision not to accept Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's invitation to Cairo (an invitation that Egypt now denies issuing)? Yes, that too.

Hmmm. Too bad it didn't succeed.
